- Hometown Jamboree
- On the first Saturday of each month (see our calendar for occasional blackouts), Rileys at Los Rios Rancho puts on an old-time music variety show, just like those great old radio and t.v. shows of the 40s and 50s. There’s one difference – we throw in a hearty family-style dinner to boot!
At the Hometown Jamboree, families can tuck into a tasty meal and enjoy a hand-clappin’, knee-slappin’, toe-tappin’ good time as Riley’s Mountaineers and special guest performers pick, fiddle and sing their favorite old-time bluegrass, western, and gospel tunes, as well as a few surprises along the way.- Guest musicians are always welcome to tote along an instrument or two and join in the free-wheeling jam after the show. You never know who’ll turn up, or what you’ll hear next.
- Come on up for some chicken and pickin’! At our reasonable adult and kid prices, it’s the best meal – and deal – around. Here are the dates:

- Movies on the Green
-
On selected Saturdays in July, Rileys at Los Rios Rancho invites guests to throw a blanket on our lawn, sit back, and enjoy a classic Western film – or two – under the evening stars.
Movies will range from early silents (where the audience helps out with sound effects), to B-westerns, to modern classics. The films start at dusk, and seating’s first-come, first-served, so come out early and enjoy our trivia quizzes, children’s costume contests, live music, and other western fun before the shows, starting at 7 p.m.
The showings are free to the public. Guests are welcome to pack a picnic basket, or we’ll have food available for purchase. Bring a blanket or lawn chairs and a jacket or a sweater (even our summer nights can be a bit brisk) and enjoy! -
Help choose our next Westerns!
Visit the Rileys at Los Rios Rancho store and vote for your favorite Western film from our list. We'll show the three films that get the most votes. Meanwhile your ballot will also enter you into a drwaing for some great door prizes at Movies on the Green.

- Cowboy Chuckwagon Supper & Show
Each August, we celebrate the cowboy tradition with our Cowboy Chuckwagon Supper and Show. Supper's served fresh off the tailgate of our 1880s Studebaker chuckwagon, and includes tasty BBQ tri-tip, trail beans, corn on the cob, and sourdough biscuits, washed down with lemonade, iced tea, or campfire coffee. For dessert, there's Dutch oven cobbler.- "Riley's Regulators" (our own Riley's Mountaineers, cowboyed up for the occasion) keep things lively with traditional and classic cowboy tunes, and for those who enjoy an old-time waltz or two-step, there's a dance floor. Adventurous guests can try their hands at roping, branding, or saddling. The less adventurous can take a turn cranking the ice cream freezer or the coffee grinder. Tickets for adults and kids will be available online. The celebration begins at 6pm.

- Apple Butter Festival
-
Pioneer families made a custom of gathering together in late fall to cook up apple butter from the last apples of the season. It was a practical way to preserve the apples throughout the year and a pleasurable way to preserve community spirit.
Our annual Thanksgiving weekend Apple Butter Festival celebrates this fine old tradition, and we invite families to come up and share in it.
We’ll have a hands-on demonstration of apple butter making the old-time (and slow!) way - outdoors in a big copper kettle. Come learn how to “start the snitz” and “add the money”, plus enjoy pioneer crafts and games, music, carriage rides, and lots more.
At day’s end on Saturday we'll cap off the evening just like our ancestors did - with a good old-fashioned hoedown, featuring music by Rileys Mountaineers.
Chuckwagons will prepare a pumpkin stew on Saturday for the Apple Butter Hoedown. The chuckwagons will be using the apple butter we cook up to create their own unique dishes – come taste and vote on Sunday.
Admission to the Festival is free; there are small fees for some activities. Apple Butter Hoedown admission includes the pumpkin stew, served up in large Cinderella pumpkins.
- Friday, November 28, 2008 / 9am - 5pm
- Saturday, Nov. 29, 2008 / 9am - 5pm; Hoedown at 6pm

- Currier and Ives Christmas
-
Have yourself a Currier and Ives Christmas at Los Rios Rancho!
Come share this most festive of seasons with us as we celebrate the birth of the Christ child. Enjoy a hearty holiday feast of roast ham, chicken pie, fresh green beans, and red potatoes. There's bread pudding for dessert, and plenty of wassail.
After supper, join us as we sing traditional carols, roast chestnuts, and deck the halls (with boughs of real holly, of course!).
Later, we'll dance into the wee hours as maestro Pa Riley leads us in traditional vintage country dances (no experience needed); to the music of Riley's Dance Ensemble.
Festivities begin at 6:00 p.m. on all nights.
